juanita.mccartneyJuanita C. McCartney, 86, of Logansport, passed away at 12:20 p.m. Sunday, July 3, 2016 in Miller’s Merry Manor.

Born July 24, 1929, in Hamlet, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Esther (Smith) Lehiy.

On November 4, 1953, in Plymouth, she was married to Charles Eugene McCartney, Sr. who preceded her in death October 18, 1986.

In the 1940’s, Juanita played second base for the South Bend Women’s Blue Sox Professional Baseball League.

Juanita retired from White-Rodgers in 1992 where she had worked for over twenty years.

A life member of the VFW Ladies Auxilary, Juanita also belonged to the Eagles Auxilary where she enjoyed dancing. She absolutely LOVED playing BINGO.

Juanita was an excellent cook. She had a large garden and enjoyed canning and caring for her flowers. She never knew a stranger and her heart was loving and generous towards all. She loved her family dearly.

Surviving are three children: Juanita Lee McCartney, Robert D. McCartney and James Michael McCartney and his wife Susan, all of Logansport; and five grandchildren, Larry, Ashley, Joseph, Christie and Michael.

She was preceded in death by four sisters; one brother; one son Charles Eugene McCartney; one daughter Mary Louise Hoover;and one grandson, Jason.

A funeral service celebrating Juanita’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 7 in Fisher Funeral Chapel.

Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 6 in the funeral chapel.
