blackRuby P. Black, 90, New Waverly, passed away at 3:10 a.m., on Friday, July 22, 2016, in WoodBridge Health Campus.

Born on September 8, 1925, in Amboy, she was the daughter of Earnest and Marie Deardorff Parish.

On September 5, 1948, she was married to Hollis L. Black, who preceded her in death on January 17, 1988.

A homemaker, Ruby had been employed part time at the New Waverly Post Office.

She was an active member of New Waverly United Methodist Church, and a volunteer for community activities.

She loved being a homemaker and taking care of family. Her home was always the place for large holiday meals, or just casual visits. She always made her house feel like a home.

Ruby enjoyed sports, but especially watching basketball on TV. She enjoyed shopping and spending time with friends, and most of all, spending time with her family.

Surviving are children, Terrie (Tim) Sweet, Walton, and Steven (Kathy) Black, Logansport; sister, Dorothy Lynch, Ann Arbor, Michigan; grandchildren, Jason (Jenny) Sweet, Logansport, Ryan (Shane) Sweet, Cumming, Georgia, Christopher (companion, Laura Criss) Black, Noblesville, and Michelle (Kyle) Walker, Noblesville; great grandchildren, Kyleigh, Kendall and Easton Sweet, Logansport, Corey and Brooke Sweet, Cumming, and Chase and Owen Walker, Noblesville.

In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at Kroeger Funeral Home, with Pastor Don Cline officiating.

Visitation will be 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., on Monday, July 25, 2016, at Kroeger Funeral Home.

Interment in Ever-Rest Memorial Park will follow the service.
