Edmund H. Schellhorn

schellhornEdmund H. Schellhorn, 96, of Rochester passed away peacefully at 12:55 a.m., Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at his daughter’s residence.

Born on July 8, 1920 in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of the late Emil and Lena (Faber) Schellhorn. On February 7, 1948 he married Elizabeth Carlino. She preceded him in death on June 28, 2001.

He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran.

Edmund formerly owned and operated Schellhorn’s Bakery in Chicago. He later retired from Alsip Ornamental Iron in Posen, Illinois.

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Rochester. Edmund was an avid Cubs fan and he enjoyed gardening and playing Solitaire.

Survivors include his children, Diane L. Mate (Thomas) of Rochester, Earl A. Schellhorn (Karen) of Monee, Illinois and Alan E. Schellhorn of Tinley Park, Illinois and grandchildren, Jeff, Beth, Tom, Luke, Lisa, Nancy and Katie. He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by sister, Irma Koenigshof, 2 great grandchildren and daughter in law, Patricia Schellhorn.

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. (EST), Sunday, August 7, 2016 at St. John Lutheran Church, 404 Jefferson, St., Rochester. There will also be a funeral dinner for everyone immediately following the service.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Sunday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran Church and/or Lutheran Braille Workers.
