Mary Jane Workman

workmanMary Jane Workman, 90, of Logansport passed away Monday, August 22, 2016 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Logansport.

Born on May 8, 1926 in Plymouth, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of the late Axel Marius and Esther (Lange) Madsen.

On Jan 20, 1949 in Kewanee, IL she married Stanford Eugene Workman who preceded in death on August 22, 2006.

Mary Jane graduated from Ward-Belmont Preparatory School. She attended the University of Illinois where she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. She also attended the Katherine Gibbs School. Mary Jane was a former board member for over thirty years and active in the Henry County Republican Women s organization. In 1986 she was the Henry County Republican Woman of the year.  She was the former chair person of the Henry and Stark County Cancer Society, former chair person of  the Kewanee Civic Nurse Board, Ladies Reading Club and various other civic and charitable organizations. Mary Jane was also a very active member of the Congregational Church in  Kewanee.

Surviving are two sons, David J. (Beth) Workman, Logansport; Steven E. Workman, Champaign, IL; and eight grandchildren, Amanda, James, Harry, David, Sarah, John, Daniel and Katie.

She was preceded in death by one son Rev. Phillip Workman.

A private graveside service will be held in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Kewanee, IL.

Local arrangements were entrusted to Gundrum Funeral Home & Crematory.
