ottGary L. Ott, 80, of Logansport, passed away Friday, October 21, 2016 in Branson, Missouri.

Born on August 23, 1936 in Massillon, Ohio, he was the son of the late Lester Ott and Naomi Weller Kuntz. On April 14, 1967 in Anniston, Alabama Gary married Gloria J. Doran who survives.

Gary joined the U.S. Army in January of 1955 where he was stationed in Germany, France, Fort Eustis, VA and Fort McClellan, Alabama. He was sent to Vietnam in January of 1968 and suffered the loss of his right leg. While serving his country, Gary was a recipient of The Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal and an Army Commendation Medal.

Gary worked at R.B.M. (Hamilton Standard – United Technologies) for 25 years before retiring when the factory closed in 1994. He was a member of the American Legion Post #418, Walton; a life member of the VFW Post #3790, member of the MOOSE Lodge #232 and past member of the Eagles Lodge #323.

Gary was an avid reader, enjoyed fishing, working outside, and traveling. He has never met a stranger and truly loved to visit with people.

Surviving along with his wife Gloria, is a daughter, Dana (Jason) Hoff, New Waverly; son, John (Joyel) Ott, Logansport; grandchildren, Lilah and Layton Ott; Jason M. and Dylan Hoff; brother, Steve Ott; sisters, Joyce (JR) Woods; Janet Haynes; Pat Colley; and Lynne Sneed, all of Massillon, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ed “Pete” Ott; and a sister, Kathy Fredericks.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 28, 2016 in the Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Clark officiating. Burial with full military rites will follow in Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Logansport.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2016 also in the funeral home.
