leaseHarry “Bud” Harvey Lease Jr., 88 of Lucerne, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016 at Memorial Hospital in Logansport, after a brief illness.

Born on December 25, 1927 in Lucerne, he was the son of the late Harry Harvey Lease Sr. and Cora Faye Burton. On October 31, 1948 he married Betty Lou Herd in the Zion Methodist Parsonage in Lucerne, Indiana, she preceded him in death on January 20, 2012.

Bud was a United States Navy Veteran. He was a farmer and ditcher, he was also a former truck driver for Frushour Oil of Lucerne. Bud was a frequent visitor at Bull Shippers in Logansport where he could get caught up on the latest news in Logansport. Bud enjoyed the outdoors especially cutting wood.

Surviving are three daughters, Candy (Gary) English, Lafayette; Barb (Larry) Troyer, Twelve Mile; Judy (Jack) Kellems, Lucerne; grandchildren, Bill (Janet) English; Emily Goertemoeller; Amanda (Ethan) Bowyer; Joseph (Ashley) Troyer; David Cooley; and Darla (Shane) Leavell; eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and his constant companion his dog Darla.

Bud was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Robert Lease; and a son, Jerry Lease.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 12, 2016 in the Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor David Noel officiating. Burial will follow in the Indian Creek Cemetery, Lucerne, IN.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, also in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Indian Creek Cemetery Fund.
