Mathilda “Tilly” L. Lamb

lambMathilda “Tilly” L. Lamb, 94, of Kewanna passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Millers Merry Manor in Peru.

Born February 22, 1922 in Star City, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Catherine (Silver) Besse. On May 6, 1944 in LaPorte, she married T. Marion Lamb. He preceded her in death October 2, 1986.

She was a 1940 Kewanna High School graduate.

Tilly formerly worked at Hart-Schafner & Marx in Rochester, retiring after 24 years.

She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Kewanna and also member of National Council of Catholic Women.

She was also former member of Pinhook Grange in Kewanna and former 4-H adult leader and Cub Scout mother.
In her retirement, she was an avid gardener and enjoyed quilting among other hobbies.  She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren especially during the holidays baking cookies and making candy. She will be missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include sons, Wayne Lamb (Katherine) of Peru and William Lamb (Judy) of Ft. Wayne, daughter, Joan Gallagher (Michael) of Wilmington, Ohio and sister, Josephine Illingworth of Earl Park, Indiana. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, 8 great great great grandchildren and 1 great great great great grandchild.

She was also preceded in death by brothers, Charles Besse, Leo Besse, David Besse and Joseph Besse and sisters, Dolores Foerg, Patricia Koons and Sister Mariam (Margaret Ann) Besse.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 29, 2016 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Kewanna with Father Bert Woolson officiating.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 28, 2016 at Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Home, Kewanna Chapel with Scripture Service to follow at 7:00 p.m.

Burial will be at Kewanna Citizens IOOF Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society and/or St. Ann Catholic Church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Home, Kewanna Chapel.
