Alton Brigance

Alton Calvin Brigance, 75, of Logansport, passed away Friday Dec. 23, 2016 in his residence.

Born May 9, 1941 in Finley, TN ,he was the son of the late Raymond and Jimmie (Brackin) Brigance.  In 1962 he married Joan Marks who preceded in death. On October 6, 2001 in Miami, IN he married Beulah Lorene Ailor (Powell) who survives.

Alton retired from Small Parts in 2004 and worked part time for T&L Tooling. Alton was also a flight instructor for seventeen years. He was a three year Army Veteran receiving medals as Sharpshooter, Marksman and National Defense Service Medal. Alton was a member of the Southside Fellowship Church.

Survivors, include his wife, Beulah, Logansport; one daughter, Diana (Skip) Shedron, Logansport; one son, Rodney (Angie) Powell, Peru; seven grandchildren, Cooper Powell, Peru; Gabby (Landon) Whitehead, Lafayette; Thea Swihart, Kokomo; Emma Chase; Peru; Sadye Shedron Royal Center; Travis (Kyanne) Shedron, Peru; Andy (Lindsay) Shedron, Peru; six great grandchildren, Dane Landis, Neilan Lee, Reid Shedron, Layne Shedron, Dylan Shedron and Hadley Shedron; six sister-in-laws, Creola (Mike) Hundley, Vivian Mason, Margie (Bob) Mathews, Sue Wilson, Terri (Ray) Bass, Marie Ailor; three brother-in-laws, Richard (Phyllis) Ailor, Terry (Zona) Marks, Rex Marks; several nieces and nephews in Indiana and Becky Stephens in Florida.

Two brothers, Harold and Tommy Brigance, one sister, Saline Hicks and four brother-in-laws, Jerry Ailor, Larry Wilson, Ed Marks and Don Mason, preceded in death.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:00am, Thursday December 29, 2016 at Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Jimmy Justice, Pastor Jim Sparks, Pastor Jeff Alan and Pastor Horace Smith officiating. Burial with full military rites will be held in Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery, Logansport, IN.

Visitation hours will be from 4:00pm-8:00pm on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 in Gundrum Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
