Jack L. Smith

Jack L. Smith, 78, of Lucerne passed away at 3:30 p.m., Monday, December 26, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Born on May 14, 1938 in Royal Center, he was the son of the late Virgil C. and Betty (Floyd) Smith.

On December 20, 1957 he married Ruth A. Strasser, she survives.

Jack was a lifelong brick layer.  He was a member of the Brick Layer’s Union Local #4 and was a Past President of the Logansport Brick Layer Local.  Jack attended Fletcher’s Lake United Methodist Church and he enjoyed mushroom hunting and watching Nascar races.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Ruth A. Smith of Lucerne, his children, Jon Scott Smith (Debra) of Greentown, Lisa A. Evans (Brian) of Carrollton, Texas and Tod E. Smith (Joyce) of Huntington, grandchildren, Melissa Frye, Lindsay Bolhoeffer (Daryl), Rebecca Frye, Cory Smith (Emily), Joshua Smith (Jamie), Alicia Albertson (Nathan), Sara Smith, Molly Smith, and Katie Smith and great grandchildren, Justice, Jackson, Jeremiah, Holden, Jasper, Jameson and Charlotte.

He was also preceded in death by brother, George E. Smith.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 30, 2016 at Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center Chapel with Pastor David Sommers officiating.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Kistler Cemetery in Royal Center.
