Clarence Brown

Clarence D. Brown, 91, of Rochester, passed away at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2017, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.

Born June 13, 1925, in Royal Center, he was the son of the late Wade D. and Laura Floetta Cox Brown.

Clarence was a 1943 graduate of Buffalo High School, In 1945, enlisted in the United States Army where he served as a Morse code operator during WWII.  In 1952, he was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force with the ranking of Airman First Class.

Clarence was retired having worked as a driver for R.R. Walker, Inc. and Studebaker, both in South Bend and Exide Battery in Logansport where he earned a 25-year safe driving medal. As a private pilot, Clarence enjoyed flying.  He worked at Logansport Flying Service on weekends during his flying years.

Clarence was a member of the American Legion Post 60 in Logansport and the Teamsters.  He loved fishing for blue gill and was an avid traveler.

He is survived by his wife, Theo Crane Brown, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one daughter, Kimberly Brown Lemler and her husband Terry of Bourbon, IN; one son, Gary D. Brown, of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren: Julie Dobbins and her husband Jeramie of San Diego, CA, Michael Brown and his wife Tina of Kansas City, Jordan Breeden and his wife Betsy, and Cameron Lemler, all of Bourbon.  There are also eight great-grandchilden: Kayla Marie (Brown) Riley, Andrew Patrick Shepherd, Kristin Nicole Brown, Katelynn Michael Brown, Danielle Lauren Brown, Greyson Ross Dobbins, Landon Edward Dobbins and Nolan Morris Breeden; one great-great-grandchild, Declan; and two half-sisters, Ardella Geiger and Gail Ruby Sumpter.

There will be a private family service.  There will be no visitation.

Burial will be in Royal Center Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Clarence’s memory to the American Heart Association.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Fisher Funeral Chapel.
