Tammy Jane Rush Johnson

Tammy Jane Rush Johnson, 53, of Lafayette, formerly of Walton, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Newton County.

Born May 15, 1963, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Connie Kuszmaul Rush and the late James “Bill” Rush.

A 1981 graduate of Lewis Cass High School, Tammy went on to receive her Secretarial Certification from the Indiana Business College.

For the past 15 years, she worked as a human resources manager at Purdue University. Previously, she had worked as a secretary for Prudential.

Tammy loved riding Harley’s with her boyfriend, Richard. She enjoyed being outdoors. Tammy served as a volunteer for CASA, the  Court Appointed Special Advocates for abused and neglected children.

Surviving with her mother, Connie Rush, of Logansport, are her daughters, Kaylee Johnson (fiancé Thaddeus Corrigan II) of Indianapolis, and Mattea Johnson of Lafayette;  her sister, Kathy (George) Troutman of Logansport; her  boyfriend, Richard B. Neese; her nephew, Jason (Raquel) Cripe; her niece Aubrey (Jeremy) Aubrey; and 4 great nieces and nephews.

A gathering of family and friends will take place from 3-7 p.m. Thursday, July 27, at Fisher Funeral Chapel in Logansport.

A memorial service celebrating Tammy’s life will immediately follow at 7 p.m. in the chapel  with Pastor Aaron Gross officiating.

Memorial Contributions may be made to her daughter, Mattea Johnson, to assist with her college fund or to Tippecanoe County CASA, 5th floor, 301 Main Street,  Lafayette, IN 47901. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
