Betty J. Long, 89 of Logansport, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Memorial Hospital in Logansport.
Born on June 26, 1929 in Logansport, she was the daughter to the late Lawrence E. and Elsie (Wilson) Smith. On June 6, 1948 in Logansport, she married Oval V. Long who preceded in death on May 17, 1977.
Betty retired in 1989 after working at Switches for 30 years. She then became a caretaker for an additional 15 years. She was a member of the New Life Alliance Church in Logansport where she also served as the Sunday School secretary. Betty enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and sewing.
Surviving her are two daughters, Shirley (Michael) Velardo, Staten Island, NY; Gale (Kenneth) Smith, Pekin, IN; sister, Marilyn Paal, Sierra Madre, CA; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 3, 2018 in the Ever-Rest Memorial Park Chapel. Burial will also take place in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to the Cass County Humane Society or the Emmaus Mission Center in Logansport.
