Amma A. Smiley, 90, Logansport, passed away Thursday evening, Feb. 7, 2019, at Logansport Memorial Hospital following a battle with pneumonia.

Born March 24, 1928, in Cass County, she was the daughter of the late Alexander Thomas and Hattie Susan (Harlan) Piercy.

On March 1, 1947, in Mishawaka, she was married to Kenneth D. Smiley, who passed away March 21, 2015.

Amma was a 1946 graduate of Royal Center High School. She was retired from RBM/United Technologies.

A member of the Main Street United Methodist Church, Amma had participated in mission trips to New Mexico and Oklahoma. Sunday was always a family day with Amma preparing a huge feast for 10-30 people. She loved to cook.

Amma was a devoted Boy Scout mom and grandma with Troop 213 at the American Legion. The family cottage at Lake Manitou in Rochester provided many happy memories of family fun the past 60 years. Amma also enjoyed traveling, IU basketball and supporting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their activities.

Surviving are one son, Kane Everest (Marta) Smiley of Logansport; two daughters, Jerry Ann Chomko of Logansport and Mickie Darlene Holt of Bedford; one sister, Mellie Gunion of Logansport; one brother-in-law, James (Charlotte) Smiley of Argos; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Piercy, Logansport and Carole (Duke) Florian of South Carolina; eight grandchildren: Mark (Kathleen) Krueger, Erik (Nikki) Smiley, Karen (Bryce) Caudle, Jennifer (Ben) Rance, Ryan (Rachael) Edwards, Patrick Chomko (fiancee Erica Brace), Shannon (Jeremy) Foreman, and Lindsay Endris; 23 great-grandchildren: Gage (Brittni), Mark, Cadence and Joe; Cole, Jackson and Seamus; Brylie, Caden and Emmie; Bryanna (fiance Adam),Tanner, Ethan and Shelby); Alex, Sydney and Ella; Luke and Emma; Dylan, and Owen; Daysha, Lilly and Eli; one great-great-grandson, Seeley; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one son, Kerry Franklin Smiley; and six siblings, Harley, Roy, Sam and Paul Piercy and Marie Lucy, and Della Jane Watterson.

A funeral service celebrating the life of Amma Smiley will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12 at Fisher Funeral Chapel with Rev. Colleen Harden officiating.

Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport.

Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11 and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday in the funeral chapel.
