Donald E. “Robbie” Robertson Sr., 89, of Logansport (Georgetown), passed away on Friday, February 1, 2019 at St. VIncent’s Hospital, Indianapolis.

Born April 27, 1929, he was the son of the late Oral E. and Bessie Opal (Smith) Robertson.

On January 26, 1952, in Logansport, he was married to Betty (Holcomb) Robertson who preceded him in death on February 6, 2011.

A 1947 graduate of Burnettsville High School, Don enlisted in the Army Air Corps following graduation. He served in the U.S. Air Force in the Philippines working mainly in the belly of jets and aircraft carriers until 1950. He was proud to be a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

In 1992, Robbie retired from NIPSCO as a supervisor.who devoted 32 years of service.

Robbie was baptized at Signal Mountain in Tennessee. He loved working on small engines. He enjoyed playing cards, riding motorcycles and going to the midget car races. Robbie never outgrew his love of shooting hoops from his days on the Burnettsville Bees basketball team.

Surviving are three children: Pamela J. (Jack) Miller, Royal Center, Donald E. (Robyn) Robertson Jr., Lucerne and Felita K. Robertson, Logansport, (Georgetown); three sisters, Patricia (Jerry) Hall, Headlee, Wilma Bowman, Burnettsville and Helen Crocket, Royal Center; five grandchildren: Melissa, Jacqueline, Trisha, Tiffany andKaleb; ten, great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren with two more on the way and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Joni Robertson, two brothers, Richard and Charles Ralph Robertson, three sisters, Jean Weaver, Geneva Kozma and Sandy Lind; and two nephews, Ralph and Terry Lee.

A Funeral Service celebrating Robbie’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 5, in Fisher Funeral Chapel

Burial, with full military honors, will follow in Clymers Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4 in Fisher Funeral Chapel.
