Betty Jean Nies, 90, of Royal Center, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at McKinney Place in Logansport.
Born on October 9, 1928 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, she is daughter to the late Kenneth and Florence Abigail (Hopkins) Cookerly. On February 19, 1949 in Kewanna, Indiana, she married Keith Edward Nies who preceded in death on June 18. 2008.
Betty was a homemaker and a farmer’s wife. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church.
Surviving are four daughters, Becky (Bob) Silver, Attica; Linda (Wayne) Luse, Galveston, TX; Pat (Tom) Groscost, Westerville, OH; Sharon (Brad) Denham, Fort Wayne, IN; three sons, Ed (Judy) Nies, Royal Center; Alan (Nancy) Nies, Star City; Rod (Kristy) Nies, Royal Center; sister, Billy Brown, Kendallville, IN; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Cookerly and a sister, Lorena McCoy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at All Saints Catholic Church with Fr. Jeff Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Logansport.
Visitation will take place from 9:00 am until the time of service at All Saints Catholic Church.
Gundrum Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with Betty’s arrangements.
