Mildred Taylor

Mildred Taylor, 90, of Royal Center, went to be with the Lord at 8:20 p.m., Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis.

Born on March 17, 1929 in Strasburg, North Dakota, she was the daughter of the late Corniluis and Gertrude (Van Schuur) Van Soest.

She was a 1947 Pulaski High School graduate.

On February 6, 1949 she married Donald R. “Orrie” Taylor. He preceded her in death on November 12, 1994.

Mildred was a member of Royal Center United Methodist Church. She retired in 1991 from Switches in Logansport.

In days gone by, she was an avid quilter. She lovingly made quilts for all of her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her son, Donald (Nancy) Taylor of Royal Center and daughters, Sadonna Weaver of Monticello and Alicia (Bob) Pifer of Royal Center, grandchildren, Rod Taylor, Rachel Anders and Michael Taylor, Jill Shannon and Kathryn Weaver, Christina Pifer and Coretta Pifer and 6 great grandchildren. Mildred is also survived by her loving twin brother, Melvin Van Soest of Logansport, sister, Lealla Pullium of Richmond, Missouri and many loving nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by brothers, Maurice Van Soest and Clarence Van Soest, sisters, Jennetta Bauerly, Anna Wilcox, Verna Van Soest, Mabel Reeves, Gertrude Hayden Little, Cornelia Van Soest, son-in-law, Richard Weaver and grandson, Wesley Weaver.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Home & Crematory, Royal Center Chapel with Pastor Joe Boggs and Pastor Tom Anders officiating.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday.

Burial will follow at Royal Center Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Royal Center Volunteer Fire Dept.
