Nancy Jo (Whiteside) Evers, 86, rural Rochester, passed away peacefully at home in Union Township on Saturday morning, December 14, 2019.

Nancy was born on February 24, 1933 in Peru, Indiana to William and Pearl (Ross) Whiteside. Nancy was a 1951 graduate of Kewanna High School and on July 1, 1951 she married Leonard J. Evers at the Kewanna Church of Christ. He survives. Together they raised nine children.

Nancy was a farmer’s wife, a mother, a homemaker, and a member of the Kewanna Church of Christ. She was also a member of the Welcome Neighbors Home Ec club for over 40 years and was an avid bunco player. Nancy managed the Area V Nutrition site in Kewanna for 15 years. She loved crocheting, a hobby that she began at age 40 and she was a lifelong dog lover. Nancy was also a prolific flower gardener, specializing in purple and pink flowers. She was a great cook who loved to chat with her family and friends. 

Above all, Nancy was most proud of her children and family. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Leonard, as well as their daughters Janet Yocum (CJ), Rochester; Diane, Noblesville; sons Gary, LaPorte; Bill (Veronica), Henrietta, NY; David (Maria), Robert, Brian (Kandace), all of Rochester, and John (Mary Jane), Indianapolis. 

She is also survived by 21 grandchildren and step-grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Mary and Dorothy, her brothers Charlie (Bill) and Robert, and her son, Rick in 1993.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 18th at Rans Funeral Homes & Crematory, Metzger Chapel, 123 E. Main St., Kewanna.  Pastor Aaron McCombs will officiate.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kewanna Church of Christ.
