SOURCE: News release from the Office of Logansport Mayor Chris Martin

In an effort to increase transparency and keep the public as informed as we can, we wanted to share the most recent testing data from Cass County over the last nearly 2 weeks.

At this time, facilities in Cass County have tested 242 people for COVID-19 and received 133 results back all negative for the virus.

STATEMENT FROM MAYOR MARTIN:With the governor’s latest executive order announced yesterday, I felt it was important to address some key points and explain what it means for all of us and Logansport. The order is to stay at home. Get groceries and supplies ONLY when absolutely necessary, seek medical attention when necessary, get gas only when necessary and go to work only if you’ve been deemed essential.Essential businesses and operations include:

  • Stores that sell groceries and medicine
  • Food and beverage manufacturers
  • Charitable and social services
  • Religious entities (provided they adhere to social distancing)
  • News media
  • Gas stations and businesses needed for transportation
  • Banks and other financial and insurance institutions
  • Hardware and supply stores
  • Critical trades such as plumbers, electricians, etc.
  • Mail services
  • Educational institutions that can use social distancing
  • Laundry services
  • Restaurants (no dine-in)
  • Businesses providing supplies for you to work from home
  • Transportation: airlines, taxis, etc.
  • Home-based care and services
  • Shelters for adults and children
  • Day cares
  • Professional services including legal, accounting, etc.
  • Manufacturing for critical products (food, medicine, etc.)
  • Trash disposal services
  • Hotels and motels
  • Funeral services

I want you to know that I strongly agree with this proactive approach in asking all non-essential businesses in Logansport to use your moral judgement and close until April 7th.

If you choose not to close, be mindful of the specific directive from the Governor.

  • Allow working from home wherever possible.
  • Actively encourage sick employees to stay home. Your employees should not be working with a fever and should not return to work until they have been fever-free and symptom-free for 3 days.
  • Frequently perform enhanced cleaning and sanitizing practices throughout your facilities.

For the factories and other businesses who are essential, you need to be following the CDC guidelines and directives from the federal and state government. This is no longer a profit/loss margin concern. Money can be replaced, a life cannot.

The city of Logansport is still working; however, it is strictly through phone or email until further notice. Minimal essential city functions will be operating only as needed.

As a citizen, I know this order will cause some hardship for me and my family. However, as a leader, I know it’s the right thing to do in order to reduce this outbreak and protect our community.

It’s time to start acting like responsible human beings and take these precautions seriously.

Please stay informed with reliable information. Rumors can spread faster than this virus. All they do is create panic, and that is not only irresponsible, but also counterproductive.

Try to remain calm through this storm. Focus on protecting your family and supporting one another.

I would like to thank everyone for all they are doing during this challenging health crisis, especially the dedicated team at the health department, all the leaders and workers in the healthcare field, and the city and county first responders and public safety workers. Seeing everyone collaborate as we navigate this uncharted territory together has been so inspiring. I am honored to be a part of local leadership that can work so well together even in difficult times. Together, we will succeed!

• Restaurantes (no cenar)

.• Atención y servicios a domicilio.

• Refugios para adultos y niños.

• Cuidado diario

• Servicios profesionales que incluyen asuntos legales, contables, etc.

• Fabricación de productos críticos (alimentos, medicamentos, etc.)

• Servicios de eliminación de basura.

• Hoteles y moteles
