Richard Lee Ballinger

Richard Lee Ballinger, 72 of Logansport, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, March 19, 2020, in the emergency room of Memorial Hospital, having been diagnosed with advanced stages of lung cancer just last month.

Born July 7, 1947, near Kouts Lake, he was the son of the late Chester and Patricia (Gray) Ballinger.

Rich was married to Phyllis A. (Strasser) Cassell Ballinger in a beautiful setting under a tree at Pottawatomie Point.

During the Vietnam War, Rich served his country as a member of the United States Army.

Rich enjoyed fishing. He had a very strong work ethic and his work at Matthew-Warren was an important part of his life. He worked as a press operator for ten years before retiring.

Surviving with his wife are one sister, Melinda Tolasch, of Michigan; his nieces and nephews including two nephews, Andrew and Charles Garrison; and the family feline, Molly.

He was preceded in death by one stepson, Leon Ashley Cassell.

Private services, with military honors, will be held at Fisher Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services.
