Former Logansport resident Jane Ellen “Janie” McMahan, 73, formerly of Logansport passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2020, in the Milner Community Health Care Center in Rossville.

Born May 28, 1947, in Logansport, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Martha Patty. She was raised on the family farm and lost her mother at a very young age.

On September 10, 1977, in Rensselaer, Janie married the love of her life, James W. “Dynamite” McMahan. He preceded her in death February 5, 2017.

A homemaker, Janie enjoyed volunteering at Memorial Hospital and the Logansport Library. She had worked at Federal Mogul and as a lab assistant at Ivy Tech Community College. Janie was a member of the Izaak Walton League and in 1991 had earned top honors in the ladies division of the National Trap Shooting competition. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star formerly in Camden and Logansport’s Niddee Shrine Guild.

She is survived by a cousin, Bill Northcutt, of Burlington; and life-long friends, the Huffer families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and friends James R. Huffer and Marion C. Huffer.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 21 at the Ball Hill Cemetery in Cutler.
