John A. Ehler

John A Ehler, Sr., 79, of Logansport, passed away at 2:03 p.m. Friday, October 16, 2020, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born May 24, 1941, in Cass County, he was the son of the late John and Goldie (Porter) Ehler.

On July 2, 1962, at the Cass County Court House, he was married to Patricia Ann (Titus) Ehler. They had lived in the same neighborhood all their lives and he literally married the “girl next door.”

John retired from Elco after 16 years as in set-up. He had previously worked at Small Parts for 12 years.

Proclaimed as baker of the “best cookies in the world” by his grandchildren, John held the secret recipe for chocolate chip cookies. He also loved making homemade noodles. One of his favorite activities in earlier years bowling. He was also a man of simple joys who loved just sitting on his front porch, watching the birds and squirrels.

Surviving with his wife of 58 years, Patricia, are his children: Susan (David) Welch, Karla (Bill) Curry, John A. Ehler, Jr., Kevin Ehler and Mark Ehler, all of Logansport; one half-brother, Ron (Bonnie) Ehler, Kewanna; two sisters-in-law, Sandy Ehler, Twelve Mile, and Nancy Hamilton, of Logansport; four grandchildren: Adam Ehler, Tara Collins (Scott Williams), Dustin Curry, and Aaron (Elise) Curry; and seven great-grandchildren: Kendyl, Addison, Elliana, Evangline, Declan, Allie and Brookelyn.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Ehler; a half-sister, Shirley (Darrell) DeWitt; and a half-brtoher, Don Hamilton.

A Funeral Service celebrating John’s life will be held at 1 pm. Wednesday, October 21 in Fisher Funeral Chapel.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the time of the service in the funeral chapel.

Interment will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery.
