Louis Dale Herd, age 79, of Kewanna, went to be with the Lord on Sunday October 4, 2020 at the Cleveland Clinic Medical Center, surrounded by his family.

Born July 21, 1941 in Grass Creek, IN to the late John and Nettie (Sutton) Herd. On February 7, 1964 in Logansport he married Joan Wiser who survives.

Louie was a retired farmer. He was a graduate of Indiana Barber School but will be best remembered for his many years in farming. In his younger years Louie enjoyed trap shooting and was well known in the tractor pulling circuit with his tractor named Double Barrell. Louie was a kind caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a 50 year member of the Fulton Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed a good game of euchre with his friends and family. He will be remembered by many for his kind soul, soft spoken personality, and big heart.

Other survivors including his wife Joan is one daughter, Tricia (Heath) Martin, Kewanna; son-in-law, Gary Harrold, Kewanna; brother, John (Linda) Herd, Kewanna; five grandchildren, Conner (Gaby Brouyette) Martin, Francesville; Madison Mackenzie Martin, Bloomington; Matthew L. (Leslie Einspahr) Harrold, Argos; Brittney (Chayse) Thompson, Rochester; Haley Markley, Rochester; four great grandchildren, Rhemi Shaye Thompson, Elliana Markley, Kamden Harrold and Kayleigh Einspahr; two nieces, two nephews, several great nieces, nephews, cousins and his beloved dog SHEP.

Louie was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Janie Harrold.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:30 PM, Friday October 9, 2020 in the Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Bruce Russell officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Fulton Cemetery.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday October 8, 2020 also at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fulton County Animal Shelter.
