Ruth “Billene” Fry

The daughter of Buna and Walter Smith, Ruth “Billene” loved being part of their large, blended family.  While many of her siblings were waiting for her in heaven, Billene’s beloved sisters Agnes Small (Sonny) and Linda Stilwell (Bill) as well as her brother, Jerry Smith (Linda) survive her.

On January 14, 1951 Billene married Russell Fry and together they created a lifelong inspirational love story.  Russell visited Billene as often as possible in assisted living and their relationship has made an impression on many throughout the years. Russell survives Billene along with their five children, Russell Fry, Jr. (Teresa), Terry Fry (Melinda), Susan Stanley, Laura Mayhill and Kristen Fry.  One of Billene’s greatest joys was being grandma to her 50+ grand and great-grandchildren.  Each of them was special to her and she created a legacy that will live on for generations.

Billene often found peace playing the piano and singing, even as Alzheimer’s started to take away more of her, she was able to enjoy her piano for several years.  One of her favorite songs was, “This is the day the Lord hath made.  Let us rejoice and be glad in it!”  Billene believed her greatest day would be when she entered heaven and met her Lord Jesus face to face.  In the wake of Alzheimer’s, we celebrate that Billene is experiencing her greatest days and is now healed for eternity!

A celebration of Billene’s life will be planned for a later date.  The family asks, if you are able and when reopening allows, that you donate your time and visit residents of assisted living facilities who do not have family or others to visit them regularly.  Donations may also be made to the Indiana Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association in Billene’s memory in lieu of flowers.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Rans Funeral Homes & Crematory, Harrison Chapel, Royal Center.

Billene’s online guestbook is available and condolences can be shared at www.ransfuneralhomes.com.
