Gerald W. Berkshire

Gerald W. Berkshire, 89, of Logansport passed away from Covid at 4:25 p.m., Friday, November 20, 2020 at Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born on August 24, 1931 at home in Cass County, Indiana, he was the son of the late Arthur and Frieda (Meeker) Berkshire.

He was a 1949 Burnettsville High School graduate and was proud to have graduated in the top ten of his class, there were only ten in his class.

On May 6, 1951 he married Lucile Barr and truly loved her until the end.

Gerald was a farmer, livestock hauler, livestock dealer, a private pilot since 1955 and built Tulip Grove Golf Course on the home farm.  He was a member of Pisgah Christian Church, EAA and the AOPA.

He enjoyed traveling and with his wife lead caravans to old Mexico and spent the last 25 years wintering in San Benito, Texas at Fun and Sun RV Park.

Gerald especially loved his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren with all his heart and was proud of all of them in everything they did.

Survivors include his wife, Lucile Berkshire of Logansport, children, Chris Conn of Remington, Wayne Berkshire (Marilyn) of Logansport, Sandy Magner (Arley) of Elkhart, Gary Berkshire (Kim) of Logansport, Greg Berkshire (Elizabeth) of Logansport, brother, Harold Berkshire of Monticello, brother in law, Robert Barr of Logansport and sister in law, Dorothy Packard of Logansport. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by brother, Darrell Berkshire, sisters, Sheral Taylor and Carol Morrison, mother and father in law, Hattie (Ross) and Robert W. Barr, son in law, Short Conn, grandson, Jason Conn, brother in law, Dale Packard, sisters in law, Sharon Barr and Margaret Bow.

Services are pending at this time. Service times will be posted in the near future and Gerald’s funeral service will be live streamed at Rans Funeral Homes & Crematory Facebook page.

Burial will follow at Pisgah Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Jason Conn Memorial Scholarship Fund.
