Here are a few photos taken on Dec. 19, 2020 of the solar field under construction on the west side of Logansport, west of Holland Street, between Market Street and Water Street.
The project was approved by the Utility Service Board in October 2019.
According to a news release from Inovateus Solar, the 80-acre 16 megawatt solar installation will power the equivalent of about 3,700 homes.
The project is being financed by a 30-year power purchase agreement (PPA) that will allow LMU to purchase the energy at a fixed kilowatt-hour rate and also includes options for LMU to buy the solar energy system at a future date.
According to Inovateus, they are also designing a solar education program to engage schools in the Logansport Community School Corporation and launching a college scholarship contest for naming the solar park.
There will be a 45-foot vegetation buffer around the solar array. The company has partnered with Fresh Energy and the Bee & Butterfly Habitat fund to plant a pollinator seek mix under and around the solar panels.
