Richard A. “Rick” Conrad

Richard A. “Rick” Conrad, 59, Logansport, passed away at 7:20 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2021, following a 3-week stay in the Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, battling medical complications. He had been on a kidney transplant wait list for nearly 20 years, which underscores the dire need for organ donations.

Born May 22, 1961, in Logansport, Rick was the son of Ron and Dinah (Miles) Conrad.

A 1979 graduate of Lewis Cass High School, Rick served as the student manager of many sports, including basketball during the exciting “Kitchel years.”

Rick enjoyed working as a case manager with Carey Services, helping people with disabilities lead meaningful lives. He was also a strong supporter of Special Olympics.

Whether it was analyzing the outcome of a game, cheering as a fan at a game or a NASCAR race, or as an armchair quarterback, Rick was the ultimate sports enthusiast. For many years, he served as an employee at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for both the Indy 500 and the Brickyard 400. Rick also loved the outdoors, and leaves behind many memories of fishing – including a few good fish tales.

More than anything in this life, Rick was proud to be a dad and a grandpa. He loved his family more than they could possibly imagine. Rick never met a stranger and made friends with ease. His friends were an extension of his own family. The legacy he leaves behind is the way he cared for others above himself.

He is survived by his mother, Dinah Day, of St. Paul, Indiana; daughter, Brandi (Zac) Lesher, Royal Center; son, Broc Conrad, Logansport; step-son, Jeremy Arvin, Logansport; sister, Pam Worthington, Logansport; and his much-love grandchildren who were his very best friends, Hunter and Owen Lesher, and Aubree and Cooper Conrad.

His father preceded in death.

A Funeral Service celebrating Rick’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 14 in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Mike Montgomery officiating.

Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Friends will be received from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service on Wednesday in the funeral chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Rick to an education fund to be established for his grandchildren’s future college expenses.
