Shirley M. (McIlwain) Bowen, 73, passed away on Monday, March 29, 2021, at Wellbrooke of Kokomo.

Born in Logansport on May 25, 1947, she was the daughter of John R. and Marjorie A. Lienemann McIlwain.

A 1965 graduate of Logansport High School, Shirley had retired from Federal Mogul and Peak Community Services. She had an Associate Degree in Accounting. 

She was the President of the All Saints Ladies Society where she was a member. 

Shirley was also an avid collector of frogs and loved gatherings with family and friends.

She is survived by her sisters, Ann Nelson (husband, Lee Oliver) and Mary Ellen Eubank (husband, Eugene); five nephews, three nieces, six grandnephews, two grandnieces, and honorary grandsons – Alex Jones, Donovan Johnson, Preston Jones and Thadeus Jackson.

Preceding Shirley in death were her parents, John R. and Marjorie McIlwain; her brother, John P. McIlwain; her long-time partner, Brenda Blake; and her ex-husband, Steve Bowen.

A graveside service will be conducted on May 8, 2021, at 11:00 am. in Galveston Cemetery located at 12445 County Rd 1000 E, Galveston. Father Kyle Neterer will officiate.

Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 a.m.
