Stanley A. Grimes

Stanley A. Grimes, age 74, Logansport, passed away unexpectedly at 8:52 a.m. on Saturday, April 3, 2021, at Memorial Hospital.

Born May 23, `1946, in Grass Creek, he was the son of Lewis Austin and Ruby Pauline Mullin Grimes.  Harold (Pappy) Beal  was Stan’s stepfather and raised Stan from childhood.

On December 1, 1994, in Logansport, he was married to Deborah Henry Pherson, who survives.

A 1964 Pioneer High School graduate, Stan graduated cum laude from Indiana University with a degree in social work.

Stan served his country in the United State Army where he was a medic.

He retired from Four County Counseling Center and had also been employed at Peak Community Services as a group home coordinator. In earlier years Stan had been employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad in Altoona, Pennsylvania, and at the Logansport State Hospital.

Stan was an ardent music buff and poet. He authored several books of poetry.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Brent Grimes, Altoona, PA; step children, Molly Pherson (Brian Fischer), Indianapolis, Abe Pherson, Indianapolis, Ben Pherson, Royal Center, James Grimes (Irene), Indianapolis; sister, Rita (Jim) Musselman, Logansport, brothers,  brothers; James  (Irene) Grimes, Indianapolis, Dan (Lucinda) Beal, Rome City, IN and Robert (Angie) Beal, Twelve Mile.

Also surviving are grandchildren, Jacob Fischer, Finley Fischer, Morgan Pherson, Lillian Pherson, Neva Pherson, Violet Pherson, Rosemary Pherson, Josie (John) Eckert, Zoie (Emanuel) Biddle; great grandchildren, Silas Wright and Temperance Eckert; a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Stan was preceded in death by brothers, Ronnie and Robert.

A Celebration of Stan’s Life will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 16, 2021, at Kroeger Funeral Home. At 7:00 p.m. Military Honors will be accorded. Recollections and words of remembrance will be offered following military honors.

Interment will be at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cass County Humane Society, 700 Water Street, Logansport 46947. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
