Thomas “Tom” Hettinger

Born August 7, 1948 in Star City, he was the son of the late Edgar and Josephine (Layer) Hettinger.

On March 16, 1996, in Logansport, he married the love of his life, Hayley (Henderson) Hettinger. And all because two people fell in love, their two families combined and expanded, taking them on adventures to China for the adoption process of two daughters together. Tom was given the title of “Grandpa” – which was the best feeling in the world – for he loved his family so very much.

Tom’s beautiful tenor voice was a gift from his Heavenly Father and Tom used it to glorify God in multiple singing groups, like Water & Spirit and The Revelations, throughout the years.Tom especially loved singing with his brothers. He was a member of the Revolution Community Church. Tom’s faith led him to trust in God throughout several medical issues the past few years.

Tom had a strong work ethic. He owned Logansport Water Conditioning for several years. His friendliness and helpful service endeared him to his clientele. Tom’s smile said it all – he was a blessing.

Surviving with his wife of 25 years, Hayley Hettinger, are his children, Deserie (Don) Bremer, Christopher (Amanda) Hettinger, Jada Hettinger, and Karissa Hettinger, his step-children, Kirsten (Derrick) Daily, Kelsey (Dorshon) Deans, and Noah (Emily) Hendrickson, his grandchildren, Tyler (Katrina), Kaitlyn, Juliana, and Madelynn Hettinger, Gabrielle and Mikaela Bremer, Stella and Marlowe Daily, Gideon, Judah, Ezra, and Moses Deans, Quinn and Grey Hendrickson; and great-grandson Myles Hettinger. He is also survived by siblings Mary Tutterow, Richard (Judi) Hettinger, Jim (Jean) Hettinger, Homer (Ginny) Hettinger; and several nieces and nephews..
