Betty J.”B.J.” Hutcheson

Betty J. “B.J.” Hutcheson, age 77, Logansport, passed away at 6:02 a.m. on Friday, May 21, 2021, at Logansport Memorial Hospital.

B.J. was born in Evansville on February 22, 1944, to Adolph and Marjorie Woodard Magnus.

On July 29, 1966, she married Kenneth R. Hutcheson, who preceded her in death on July 21, 2001.

She had been employed as a counselor at Four County Counseling Center.

When Ken Hutcheson was transferred as manager to the Logansport Sears store at the Mall, B.J. became active in the Logansport community. Together, they were involved in the Chamber of Commerce and Iron Horse Festival Association. B.J. was active in the Logansport Art Association.

In the first years of the Iron Horse Festival, B.J. was the first General Chairman of the Festival and Ken was active in organizing the displays at the Iron Horse Depot Museum. Together, they were named “People of the Year” by the Logansport/Cass County Chamber of Commerce. They were also instrumental in organizing the first Heritage Preservation Gala at the Memorial Center.

B.J. was a proud graduate of Evansville’s Benjamin Bosse High School and graduated from Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky.

Surviving are a son, Craig Hutcheson (Aimee Schauer, and her son, Noah Schauer), St. Petersburg, FL; brother, Bryan (Jane) Magnus, Inlet Beach, FL.

Also surviving are a brother-in-law, Marion (Jane) Hutcheson, Henderson, KY; nephew, Marion Hutcheson, Jr. (Denise), Newburgh, niece, Kimberly (Sean) Barr, Henderson; nieces, Brittany Mitchell, Birmingham, AL and Lindsay (Joe) DeFelice, Atlanta, GA.

From 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 28th, at Kroeger Funeral Home, friends may greet and pay their respects to the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Logansport Art Association or any charity of the donor’s choice which will benefit local, Cass County, organizations.
