Marilyn Sue Kiesling

Marilyn Sue (Darr) Kiesling, age 88, Logansport, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 3, 2021, at 1:46 p.m. at Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born October 18, 1932, in Rochester, she was the adopted daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Darr.

In 1956, Marilyn moved to Logansport. She was employed at the Elks Lodge for seven years. She then graduated from Rudae’s Beauty College. For forty years she was a cosmetologist and owned and operated Marilyn’s Beauty Salon for fourteen years.

Marilyn enjoyed bowling and participated in National Tournaments in Las Vegas and Indianapolis. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and was active in the Logansport sorority.

On November 24, 1972, Marilyn married the love of her life, Paul Kiesling. After retirement, they moved to Punta Gorda, Florida, where they lived for twenty-six years. They were married thirty-five years before Paul preceded her in death on June 11, 2008.

Four years after Paul passed away, Marilyn moved back to Logansport. She rejoined the Rose Society, Beta Sigma Phi sorority, V.F.W. Post 3790 Auxiliary, and the Republican Women’s Club.  She was attending Abundant Life Church in Kokomo where she was looking forward to starting membership classes. She was a former member of Life Gate Church where she was a greeter.

Marilyn is survived by her beloved children, Dennis (Becky) Grogg and Pamela (Mike) Dempsey; eight grandchildren, John (Tobi) Rose, Denny (Mena) Grogg, David (Andrea) Grogg, Jason (Jennifer) Grogg, Ashley (Josh) Winkler, Zachary (Kim) Grogg, Sara (Derrick) Hardy, and Jason (Amanda) Dempsey.  Also, her beloved church buddy and chauffeur, Jack Rose, survives.

Also surviving are twenty great grandchildren, Kaycee and Karlie Rose, Kelsie (Travis) Combs, Dax, Sage, Christian, Christopher, and Gracie Grogg, Hannah, Gracia, Eliyah, Nathan, Jakob, Zion, Issac, and Garret Grogg, Elizabeth and Sheralyn Winkler and Max and Ryan Hardy; great-great grandson, Greyson Grogg and great-great granddaughter, Evanell Marie Combs.

Half-brothers, Randy (Marilyn) Masterson, Dan (Crystal) Masterson, and Lynn (Nancy) Masterson also survive, along with nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; mother and step father, Pauline and Johnny Easter, sister, Marquitta McLochlin; niece, Connie Schanhorst; and nephews, Tommy Foster and Patrick McLochlin.

Visitation will be on Monday, May 10, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., at Kroeger Funeral Home, with the service immediately following. Pastor Jeremy Jones will officiate.

Interment will be in Rochester I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
