Tabitha Ellen Nacke

Tabitha Ellen Nacke, 102, Logansport, very gently passed away, with her family by her side, on Saturday evening, May 1, 2021, at Woodbridge Assisted Living.

Born March 4, 1919, in East View, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Claude (Goodmen) Miller.

On June 26, 1937, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, she was married to James R. Nacke, who preceded her in death in December 12, 1993.

A farm wife, Tabitha and her husband farmed along Nacke Pike in Hardin County Kentucky before moving north after acquiring farm land in the Burnettsvile area. They grew corn and soy beans, first using horses hitched to hand plows and progressing to air-conditioned tracotrs and multi-row planters. For over 40 years, Mark and Chris Heiny assisted Tabitha and James in farming. Tabitha was also an antique dealer and an avid doll collector.

James and Tabitha had two children who survive, James Devon (Karen) Nacke, Logansport, and Violet Nacke Kochell, DeRidder, Louisiana. They were blessed with seven grandchildren, Garret (Heather) Nacke, Travis (Alex) Nacke, Adam Nacke, Renee Spence, Mike Kochell, Gregg Kochell and Joy Kochell; great-grandchildren, Louisa Nacke, Fletcher, Sullivan and Daisy Spence, Aaron Kochell, and Courtney Kochell; and Devyn Nacke and Piper Nacke; great-great-grandchildren, Kayden, Jaci, and Harper Kochell. Tabitha had many nieces and nephews who loved their last surviving aunt.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three grandchildren and her favorite son-in-law, Alvin Kochell, who passed away just two months ago.

A funeral service celebrating Tabitha’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 4 in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Paul Scott officiating..
Interment will follow in Davis Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
