Terry L. Scybert

Terry L. Scybert, 70, of Logansport, passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at his home.

Born May 15, 1950, in South Bend, he was the son of the late Charles Lee and Patricia Lou (Patishall) Scybert

A graduate of McArthur High School, Terry continued his studies at Purdue University – Fort Wayne.

In 1973, Terry enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. During the Vietnam era, he served as a dog training handler and advanced to a trainer supervisor, specializing in patrol dog drug detecting. He was honorably discharged in 1981, but his love of training service dogs continued. After being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, his personal service dog became a companion and constant help during the progression of his illness.

An ordained minister, Terry had served as a pastor in the Baptist Church in Milford, Indiana. His faith was his source of strength through the many health challenges that he faced, which most recently, included cancer.

Surviving are his children, George Walker, Jr., and Gerrie Walker, both of Logansport, and Tonya Scybert McCoy and her husband, Patrick, Jr., of Camden, Delaware; two sisters, Linda Scybert McGee and her husband, Phillip, of Pacolet, South Carolina, and Laurie Scybert, of Anderson, South Carolina; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one niece, Jennifer McGee Minnich and her husband, Joe, and their children, of Asheville, North Carolina; and his caregiver and best friend, Christopher Duncan, Logansport

A Memorial Service celebrating Terry’s life will be held in Fisher Funeral Chapel. Please check back for complete service details. Full military honors will be accorded in honor of Terry’s military career by the U.S. Air Force honor team and the Cass County Honor Guard.

Private interment will be in the Marion National Cemetery.
