Robert “Pete” Hurley, III

Robert “Pete” A. Hurley, III, 73 of Greenwood passed away at 5:47 a.m., Friday, June 25, 2021 at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis.

Born on February 4, 1948 in Winamac, he was the son of the late Robert and Laura (Perry) Hurley, II.

He was a 1966 Kewanna High School graduate and also a graduate from Ball State University.

On August 16, 1970 he married Nedra J. Hunter.  She preceded him in death on August 22, 2009.

Pete retired from the United States Air Force and later the U.S. Department of Defense.

Pete enjoyed scouting and was a former scout leader. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the V.F.W.  Pete enjoyed fishing, gardening and I.U. basketball.

Survivors include his wife, Yvonna Smith Hurley of Greenwood, sons, Robert “PJ” Hurley the IV (Andrea) of Greenwood and Matthew Hurley (Jessica) of Macy, brother, Tom Troutman (Joy) of Rochester, Stepson, David Eidson (Mary Beth) and Stepdaughters, Crystal Roy, Candy Smith and Erin France (Kivia).  He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by siblings, Joe Hurley, Cathy Chambers and Renee St. Clair and his second parents, Donald and Violet Troutman.

Services will be at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at Rans Funeral Homes & Crematory, Metzger Chapel, 123 E. Main St., Kewanna.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

Burial with military rites will be performed at Citizens I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Kewanna.
