Nancy B. Meyer

Nancy B. Meyer passed away peacefully while surrounded by love from family and friends, on Sunday, July 18, 2021.

Nancy was born on August 2, 1948, in Logansport, Indiana to James and Marjorie Meyer. While growing up, Nancy attended and was a member of St. James Lutheran Church.  Nancy has lived in Virginia for the last 47 years and has been an active member of her church, the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Springfield, Virginia, where she belonged to a small group and Wednesday Bible Study.

Nancy grew up in Logansport, Indiana where she attended and graduated from Logansport High School in 1966 and from Valparaiso University in 1970 where she was a member of Kappa Tau Zeta Sorority.

Upon graduation from college, she accepted a position with the United States State Department in the Passport Office in Chicago, Illinois. In 1974 she transferred to Washington, D.C.  where she later retired as the Supervisory Defense Trade Analyst after 37 years of service.

Nancy is survived by one brother, Phil Meyer (Cindy) of New Concord, Kentucky, and three sisters, Jen Yonkers of Rogers, Arkansas, Becky Bell of Cumberland, Rhode Island, and Amy Hutchison of West Lafayette, Indiana. Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, and brothers-in-law: Ernie Yonkers, Tom Bell, and Dave Hutchison.

Nancy is also survived by twelve nieces and nephews, Emilie Yonkers, James Yonkers (Katie), Elissa Yonkers (Josh O’Leary), John Yonkers, Kerri Webb, Kyle Bell (Amanda), Valerie Shepard, Dana Miller (Kara), Melissa Meyer (Cameron Bechtel), Brittany Morgan (Sam), Justin Zink (Ashlee) and Carissa Hutchison. Nancy is also survived by twelve great nieces and nephews.

Nancy had an unwavering commitment and passion for her family, her friends and her God. She will be remembered for the countless DC tours she led, her Christmas cookies, and many family euchre tournaments. She was a selfless, kind, and joyous woman who touched the lives of many.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at St. James Lutheran Church, 430 9th Street, Logansport, IN 46947. Burial will follow at Ever-Rest Memorial Park.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, also at the Church.
