Jon C. Donathen, 61, of Grass Creek passed away unexpectedly at 1:47 p.m., Saturday, August 21, 2021 at his home.
Born on January 1, 1960, he was the son of the late William and Eileen (Hollis) Donathen.
He was a graduate of Kewanna High School 1978 and Manchester University 1982.
Jon retired from Rochester Metal Products. He was a member of Grass Creek United Methodist Church.
Jon was active in the Boy Scouts of America, being an Eagle Scout himself. He served as a Den Leader, Assistant Scout Master and Scout Master. He was so proud his boys followed and became Eagle Scouts too.
Survivors include his sons, Matthew Donathen of Grass Creek and Alexander Donathen (Heather) of Royal Center, brother, Larry Donathen (Joyce) of Franklin, sister, Susan Hamman of Winamac, many nieces, grand nieces, nephews, grand nephews and granddaughter, Astraea Donathen of Royal Center, with one more grandson on the way.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Diana Donathen and brother-in-law, Kenneth Hamman.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Grass Creek United Methodist Church with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Pastor David Sommers will officiate.
Burial will follow at the Grass Creek Cemetery.
