The Indiana Department of Health updates COVID-19 county metrics and advisory levels on Wednesdays.
On Sept. 8, 2021, Cass County stayed in orange for the fifth week, with 599 weekly cases per 100,000 residents, up from 514 last week, and a 7-day all tests positivity rate of 12.94%, up from 9.68% last Wednesday. You can see the map at coronavirus.in.gov.

The state’s blue metric, which indicates minimal community spread, for weekly cases per 100,000 residents is less than 10 new cases, and a 7-day all-tests positivity rate of less than 5%.
Cass County is over the red threshold of 200 weekly cases per 100,000 residents and in the orange threshold of positivity rate of 10-14.9%.
Fulton County stayed in red again this week with 620 weekly cases per 100,000 residents, up from 455, and a 7-day positivity rate of 15.91%, up from 15.13%.
The Indiana Department of Health’s county metrics map uses data as of the previous Sunday (Sept 5).
On the CDC’s COVID-19 transmission map, Indiana counties are in red, which indicates high transmission.

The state and the CDC track different timeframes for case rates and positivity rates which are used to estimate the level of transmission.
The CDC shows a weekly case rate of 596.99 per 100,000 for Sept. 1-7, up from 528.01 per 100,000 for August 25 through 31, and a 7-day positivity rate of 18.82% for August 30-Sept. 5, up from 13.82% for August 23-29.
The Indiana Department of Health reports the 7-day positivity rate each day based on data that lags by 7 days. On Wednesday, Sept. 8, they reported a positivity rate for individuals of 14% for Aug. 26-Sept. 1, up from 11.4% for August 19-25.
The Cass County Health Department’s testing and vaccination center is located at 1616 Smith Street in Logansport. They request that appointments be made for both testing and vaccinations due to recent increases for both.

Hoosiers age 12 and older can receive a COVID-19 vaccine; individuals younger than age 18 are eligible for the Pfizer vaccine only. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are accepted at most sites.
The CDC reports that as of Sept. 8, 2021, 37.2% of the total population in Cass County, or 14,018 individuals, are fully vaccinated. This is up from 36.8% and 13,863 last Wednesday. (SOURCE: https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#county-view)
That includes 43.6% of those 12 and older; 46.2% of those 18 and older and 72.1% of those 65 and older.
15,480 individuals, or 41.1% of the total population of Cass County have received at least one dose, up from 15,262 and 40.5% last week.
