Gerald J. Budreau

Gerald J. “Jerry” Budreau, 83, of Logansport, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, in Chase Center.

Born August 6, 1938, in Lafayette, he was the son of the late Wilferd and Theresa (Wittnauer) Budreau.

Following his 1956 graduation from Reynolds High School, Jerry went on to enlist in the United States Air Force. He served as a payroll clerk specialist during peacetime.

On February 16, 1963, in the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Reynolds, Jerry was united in marriage to Vasta (Willoughby) Budreau, who survives.

Jerry was a man with a strong work ethic and the heart of an entrepreneur. After serving his country, he began working with the National Home Company. He used his skills to start a career as a data processor for Essex Wire. In 1980, Jerry opened the Budreau Pools and Carwash. The family-run store is now owned by his son, Bruce, supplying northcentral Indiana with spas, hot tubs and swimming pool equipment and supplies for over 41 years. Jerry loved to work – it kept him young. He was a people person who thrived on the meeting new people. Jerry felt especially blessed by the loyalty and friendship of his customers.

Jerry had also worked as a licensed real estate agent. When his wife, Vasta, opened an antique store called “Yesteryears” he was her biggest fan.

Surviving with his wife are two sons, Bruce Budreau and Charles (Sonja) Budreau, all of Logansport; and one granddaughter, Rachel Budreau.

He was preceded in death by his siblings Robert, Donald, and James Budreau and Dorothy Welte.

A Memorial Service celebrating Jerry’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, October 4 in Fisher Funeral Chapel. Mark Racop will officiate at the service.

Burial, with full military honors, will be held in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.

Friends will be received from noon until 2 p.m. on Monday, October 4 in the funeral chapel.
