June Fisher

Ima June Fisher, 87, of Logansport, passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at McKinney Place in Logansport.

Born on August 27, 1934, in Detroit, Michigan, she is the daughter to the late Charles G. Sands and Ima (Matthews) Shackel.

On June 13, 1953, in Detroit, Michigan, she married Wayne Lee Fisher Sr. who preceded in death on July 16, 1989.

June retired as a Nurse in the OB Department at Memorial Hospital in Logansport. She was loved as the “lunch lady” at Logansport High School and Columbia Middle School. She was member of Wheatland Ave United Methodist Church.

Surviving is a daughter, Kimberly (David) Filson of Greenfield, IN; three sons, Wayne (Suzanne) Fisher Jr. of Logansport, IN, William D. (Jim Lewis) Fisher of St. Johns Island, SC, Gary M. Fisher of Lafayette, IN; Half Brother, Wayne (Judy) Shackel of St. Claire Shores, MI; grandchildren, Robert (Claudia) Travis; two granddaughters, Gabrielle Fisher, Lesley Fisher; great-granddaughter, Mary June Travis.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Kristopher R. Fisher, and a brother, Charles Sands.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 1, 2021 at Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Bruce Vernon officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport. Visitation will be held from Noon until the time of service on Friday.
