Lawrence Edward ‘Larry’ Bender, age 76, Kokomo, formerly of Peru, passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at Ascension St. Vincent Kokomo.
Born in Peru on December 23, 1944, he was the son of Peter H. and Dolly M. (Glassburn) Bender.
A United States Army veteran, Larry retired from Chrysler Corporation after over 30 years of employment.
He was a member of 40 et 8 Voiture, the VFW, American Legion, Eagles Lodge, and Union Local 685.
Larry loved spending time with his daughter and enjoyed fishing and loved meeting up with his buddies at the clubs and lodges.
Surviving are daughter, Angela S. Bender, Peru; brother, Tom (Becky) Bender, Bunker Hill; sisters, Theresa Bitzel and Helen Logsdon, both of Peru; numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his deceased companion’s children, Dara Rhoades and Dana Weaver.
Preceding Lawrence in death were his son, Scott Edward Bender; and his long-time companion, Dolores McClure, whom he dearly missed.
The visitation will be on Thursday, September 16, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., at Kroeger Funeral Home, Logansport. The service will follow at 1:00 p.m., at the funeral home, with Rev. Ken Smith officiating.
Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport, where full military honors will be accorded.
