Everett A. Moon

Everett A. Moon, 80, of Twelve Mile, passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2021, at his residence.

Born July 14, 1941, in Peru, Everett was the son of the late Wendall and Freda (Bookwalter) Moon.

Everett was a graduate of Twelve Mile High School.

On May 21, 1961, at the Twelve Mile United Methodist Church, he was married to Judith Elkins Moon. She preceded him in death in 2000.

On November 19, 2005, in Twelve Mile, he was married to LaVerne Hartzler Moon, who survives.

After 16-1/2 years, Everett retired from Rockwell where he had worked as a foreman and metal fabricator for Rockwell. He had also worked for 18 years with Advance Magnetics. Everett was skilled in automobile mechanics and had worked for Slifer Motors and Grable Chevrolet.

Everett was a member of Skinner Chapel. Everett had a strong work ethic and enjoyed working. He took great pride in mowing his yard. More than anything, Everett’s best times were those he spent with his family.

In addition to his wife, LaVerne, he is survived by his children, Sheryl (Jim) Baird, Twelve Mile, Richard “Rick” (Heidi) Moon, Logansport; Susan Hartzler, Twelve Mile and Kim (Mark)Mader, Magnolia, Texas; one brother, Jerry (Mimi) Moon, Twelve Mile; one sister,Carmen Sue (Steve) Carter, Russiaville; and his much-loved grandchildren. Danni Crane, Dallis Garber, Macie Moon, Myleigh Moon, Makenzie Bennett, Reegan Homburg, Kellen Homburg, Justin Mader and Annamarie Mader; and great-grandchildren, Natalie Crane, Grayson Garber and Griffin Crane.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Onis Moon.

A funeral service celebrating Everett’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 12, in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor David Noel officiating.

Interment will follow in the Bethlehem U.M. Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, October 11 in the funeral chapel.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Twelve Mile First Responders or Skinner Church.
