Helen A. Hemberger, age 76, Indianapolis, formerly of Logansport, passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, in Franciscan Health Indianapolis Hospital.

Born on July 18, 1945, in New Albany, she was the daughter of Joseph and Juanita Jean (Sperzel) Clegg.

On March 14, 1964, in New Albany, Helen was married to Klaus W. Hemberger, who preceded her in death on April 14, 2015.

A 1963 graduate of Jeffersonville High School, Helen had been the outside supervisor for Verizon, formerly GTE.

Following her career at Verizon, Helen “made the most” of her retirement according to the family. She loved to travel and still had “some trips left in her.” She was an avid reader and also loved to cook.

Currently Helen was a member of Southport Heights Christian Church. She had been a member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church in Logansport.

Her granddaughter, Luise Hemberger, was most cherished and the “light of her life”.

Surviving are daughter, Karen Hemberger, Daleville, Indiana; brother, Joseph Edward Clegg, New Albany; sisters, Margaret ‘Marge’ (Roy) Buford, Indianapolis and Jo Ann (George) Finney, LaPorte; granddaughter, Luise Hemberger; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Helen was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Wilhelm Hemberger; and brother, Richard Clegg.

A Celebration of Helen’s Life is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 1, 2021, at Kroeger Funeral Home. Rev. Ron Reed of Southport Christian Church will officiate.

Visitation is from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. also on Monday, prior to the service.

Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery next to her husband, Klaus, and son, Kevin.

An additional Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 7, 2021, at 12:00 noon at Southport Heights Christian Church, 7154 McFarland Road, Southport, Indiana.
