Mary Alice Louthain, 88, of Logansport, passed away Sunday, October 17, 2021, in her home.

Born January 27, 1933, in Star City, she was the daughter of the late George and Ruth (Hershey) Stephens.

On October 31, 1953, at the Broadway Alliance Church, she was married to Merrill R. Louthain, who preceded her in death on August 6, 2017.

After graduating from Logansport High School, Mary spent the next five years working for RBM before devoting her days to the joy of being a stay-at-home mom.. Over the next 9 years, Mary and Merrill, welcomed five bundles of joy into the world. Aside from tending to the duties of the home, Mary assisted Merrill with his concrete business, M.R. Louthain & Associates.

Mary and Merrill enjoyed traveling the world by cruise ships, taking 69 cruises, and are now on their final cruise together. She was an avid Cubs fan but Mary was the #1 fan of her children and grandchildren – she loved to cheer them on at their sporting events.

A longtime member of the Miami Baptist Church, Mary loved the Lord with all her heart and enjoyed serving her Lord by teaching Sunday school classes, leading as a Bible school teacher, and as president of the women’s group.

Surviving are her five children: Sandy Friend, Brenda Louthain, Merrill “Bob” Robert (Mary) Louthain II, Mary Margaret Homburg, and William “Bill” Joseph Louthain, all of Logansport; her brother, Larry (Linda) Stephens, Logansport; her sister, Judy Russow, Logansport; one step-brother, Jim (Vickie) Riddle, Logansport; thirteen grandchildren: Jason Kesler, Stacey Ramiro, Donny Friend, Macy Louthain, Merrill Louthain III, Tony Homburg, Ryan Homburg, Matt Homburg, Ike Homburg, Tara Lees, Damon Louthain, Jared Louthain and Blake Evans; nineteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Tim Friend; one brother, George Stephens; her step sister, Tobie Barton; and brother-in-law, Danny Russow.

A funeral service celebrating Mary’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 22, 2021, in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Carol Sickler officiating.

Burial will follow at Ever-Rest Memorial Park.

Visitation will be held from noon until the time of the service on Friday in the funeral chapel.
