Olin “Speed” Hardy

Olin “Speed” Hardy, 94, of Logansport, passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Logansport.

Born on August 17, 1927, in Cass County, IN, he is the son to the late Carl and Nolo (Ide) Hardy. On September 14, 1982, in Windham, NY, he married Mary Louise (Montgomery) Wood who preceded in death on May 16, 2008.

Speed was a lifelong mechanic running Hardy’s wrecker service. He also ran the body shop at Hendrickson Motor Sales and was a member of the Church of Christ in Logansport. Speed was one of the founders of Lake Cicott Speedway and helped at the track for many years.

Surviving are his children, Michael (Judith) Hardy of Logansport; Melinda (Gilbert) Crimmins of Remington; Jim (Deb) Wood of Monticello; Tish (Steve) Thompson of Lucerne; Cindy Hoagland of Delphi; Cathy (Doug) Disinger of Francesville; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and two sisters, Shelby Fultz and Lulabelle Criddlebaugh; special friend Alberta Hoch.

He was preceded in death by a son, Donald Hardy; grandson, Andy L. Crimmins; three sisters, Avis Hardy, Fern Hardy and Reva Denman; three brothers, Dale Hardy; Carl Hardy and Edgar Hardy.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Gundrum Funeral Home & Crematory with Jeff Strite officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Friday, October 15, 2021, also in the funeral home.
