Iffie “Colleen” Barton, 88, Logansport, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021, in Miller’s Merry Manor.

Born May 4. 1933, Nixa, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Horase Sanders and Tressie (Jones) Sanders Patton.

On February 12, 1952, in Arkansas, she was married to Jack D. Barton. He preceded her in death Nov. 30, 2018.

A “housewife” doesn’t begin to describe Colleen. She was her husband’s helpmate. Colleen was always dressed to perfection, never a hair out-of-place and her sweet smile complemented every outfit.

Colleen was a member of the William Paca Italian Club where she enjoyed serving spaghetti at their monthly dinners. She loved dancing the polka and was a joy to watch.

Colleen was a longtime member of the Wheatland Avenue United Methodist Church She was an exceptional cook and her baked goods were delicious – she was always ready to help with church dinners. Colleen loved her family dearly and was a wonderful wife, mother and grandma.

Surviving are her children, Tender (Roy) Rentschler, Rochester, Andy Barton, Colorado, Ron Barton, Logansport, and step-son, Jack Baker, Chicago, five grandchildren. Andy (Heather) Rentschler, Jeremy (Jessica) Rentschler, Kayla Barton-Gano, Courtney Barton, and Aren (Ethan) Clayton; and many great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Bonner, one brother. Ron Sanders; and one grandson, Dustin Barton.

A Funeral Service celebrating Colleen’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Scott Ellison officiating.

Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service in the funeral chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wheatland Avenue United Methodist Church or “A Cause to Paws” – a local pet adoption project.
