Evangelia “Eva” Titus

Evangelia “Eva” Titus, 79, Logansport, passed away Thursday, December 9, 2021, in the comfort of her home surrounded by the love of her family.

Born November 4, 1942, in Parideisi – on the island of Rhodes in Greece – she was one of seven children born to the late Giannis and Maria Nikitaras.

As a young woman, Eva and a friend moved to Germany. That’s where her adventure began 55 years ago when a handsome young man entered the restaurant where she was working. And Eva captured the heart of Joe F. Titus, a United States soldier, who was stationed in Germany at the time. Joe ate there every day for two weeks before mustering up the courage to ask Eva to go on a date.

Eva and Joe later relocated to Canada where they were united in marriage on July 20, 1968, at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Montreal. Joe wrote directly to the U.S. President to speed up Eva’s visa which allowed them to move back to his hometown in Onward. And “this beautiful, stubborn, Greek woman” ruled the roost ever since.

Eva was raised in the Greek Orthodox faith and attended church in Indianapolis. She loved raising flowers. Eva’s rose bushes and annuals were a joy to her and everyone who visited her home. A homemaker, Eva was a fabulous cook who loved family get-togethers. Her grandchildren made her heart happy. She cherished the time spent with them – especially as the blessings continued to multiply with great-grandchildren being born.

Surviving with her husband, Joe, are her daughter and son-in-law, Maria and Adam Rogers, Logansport; her daughter-in-law, Traci (Steve) McBride, Logansport; four grandchildren, Angela (Joel) Martinez, Tim (Sydney) Nikitaras, Alex Nikitaras, and Micah Rogers; and four great-grandchildren, Sophia and Maya Martinez, and Elaina and Rhea Nikitaris.

She was preceded in death by her son, John Nikitaras.

A Funeral Service celebrating Eva’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, December 13 in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Mike Osborn officiating and Dawn Fisher presenting the eulogy.

Friends will be received one hour prior to the service in the funeral chapel.

Burial will follow in Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Guardian Angel Hospice.
