Gary L. Gilsinger

Gary L. Gilsinger, 75, Logansport, passed away10:20 p.m., Friday, December 3, 2021, after a long battle with cancer.

Born September 7, 1946 in St. Joseph Hospital to John Gilsinger and Nora Courtie, he was a 1964 graduate of Logansport High school. After graduation he went to work for the Pennsylvania, Penn Central, Conrail, then Norfolk and Southern railroad where he retired after 42 years of service as a Signal Maintainer and Inspector.

In 1980, he graduated from the Purdue University School of Agriculture short course where he achieved top of class.

A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served in the 4th Infantry Company B Medical Battalion where he achieved major rank E5. 

With a lifelong passion for agriculture, his most proud accomplishment was delivering over 2,500 calves alongside his wife Judy “Jude” on their Cass County farm during their 46 years of marriage.

 Surviving are his wife Judy, Logansport; children, Jason (fiancé Audria), Toponas, CO, Tammie (Nicholas) White, Lafayette, and Jesse (Melissa), Smithfield, NC; grandchildren, Amelia, Carly, and Roland Gilsinger, Smithfield, NC; and brother, Jimmy Conn, Logansport.

He was preceded in death by brother, T.J. Smith, Logansport.

Gary was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen, VFW, American Legion, Farm Bureau, and the Indiana Cattleman’s Association.

Private services will be held.
