Phyllis Ann Herd

Phyllis Ann Herd, age 87, of Lucerne, passed away Saturday Dec. 25, 2021, in McKinney Place.

Born February 14, 1934, in Cass County she was the daughter of the late Emmett and Elsa (Richason) Nelson. On March 14, 1953, in Deer Creek Township she married John R. “Jack” Herd who preceded her in death on August 30, 2015.

Phyllis was a homemaker. She was a 1952 graduate of Young America High School, member of Zion United Methodist Church and a member of Lamplighters Extension Homemakers Club for over fifty years.

Survivors include three sons, Denny (Lori) Herd of Lucerne; Michael D. (Sheri) Herd of Logansport; Tim (Lisa) Herd of Muncie; daughter, Lori (Brad) Bond of Anderson; six grandchildren, Erin (Brad) Keffaber, Abby (Sean) Vander Veer, Taylor (Ben Ice) Herd, Jaryn (David) Becker, Tara (Brock) Shidler, Eric (Ashton) Russow and Jaclyn (Nicholas) Stephenson; eleven great grandchildren, Grant Keffaber, Ava Stephenson, Ethan Keffaber, Ella Stephenson, Ryla Stephenson, Madelyn Shidler, Ravyn Becker, Jack Shidler, Grant, Russow, Presleigh Russow and Harper Vander Veer.

Phyllis was preceded in death by one sister, Evelyn E. Heckard, one brother, Donald Nelson and sister-in law Sallie Nelson.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2021, in Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Minnick officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery near Lucerne.

A visitation will be held from 11:00 am until time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
