Shawn Garrett Murphy, aged 51, Logansport, passed away Monday, December 20th, at his residence.
The son of CPO Clarence Eugene Murphy, Sr., US Navy Retired, and Peggy Joyce (Vencill) Murphy, Shawn was born in San Diego, CA, on April 15, 1970.
He spent most of his childhood in Lansing, MI, and Hendersonville, NC.
He is survived by his wife, Pateeka, and three sons, Sean Michael (Miranda) Murphy, Seth Murphy, and Daniel Murphy, and one daughter, PJ Murphy, all of Logansport, along with six grandchildren, Elizabeth, Alexandria, Theresa, Rylie, Timothy, and Rowan-David.
He is also survived by his uncles, Philip (Mary Margaret) Murphy, formerly of Logansport, and Kenneth (Linda) Murphy of Silver Lake, Indiana; his aunt Marjorie Murphy of Avon Park, Florida; as well as cousins Stephanie Murphy (Troy) Shull and Michael (Amy) Murphy of Warsaw, Shannon Murphy (Mark) Fowler and Nick Murphy, formerly of Logansport, and numerous extended cousins.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, his elder brother Clarence (aka Scooter) Murphy, Jr., his paternal grandparents Oren and Mildred (Fincher) Murphy, and his maternal grandparents, Floyd and Fannie Lee (Schofield) Vencill.
He was a 6’7″ giant, with an even bigger heart, and he was beloved by many. Private arrangements for family and friends are pending at Kroeger Funeral Home.
His ashes will be interred along with his brother’s ashes at his mother’s gravesite in North Carolina.
