Gary Gene Titus

Gary Gene Titus, 85, Logansport, passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born October 22, 1936, in Logansport, he was the son of the late Lawrence Sr. and Florabell (Baker) Titus.

Gary served in the U.S. Army during the same time as Elvis Presley and he joked that he was always assigned to the post where Elvis had just left the building.

He was a retired telephone lineman.

Gary was a self-taught exceptional artist who loved to draw and paint. Bob Ross was his idol. He loved math and Sudoku puzzles were one of his favorite pastimes. He also loved playing the guitar and singing Elvis songs. Gary was a student of the Bible, using his computer to research and learn as much as he could about history and the teachings of Jesus.

He is survived by three children, James Titus, and Tanya (Pete) Zimmerman, all of Logansport, and Lorilei (Art) Handy, South Carolina; brother, Michael Titus; sisters, Bonnie Lou Wilson, and Patricia Ann Ehler; eight grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence Titus, Jr. and Steve Titus; and one sister, Shelia Lough.

A Funeral Service celebrating Gary’s life will be held at 12:00 p.m. noon Friday, January 28 in Fisher Funeral Chapel. Pastor Barry Mooney and grandson, Shannon Handy, will officiate at the service. The U.S. Army Honor Guard and Cass County Honor Guard will present military honors prior to the start of the service at the funeral chapel.

Burial will be held at Legion Square at Mount Hope Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the funeral chapel.
